Clinical Imaging Department
Department Overview:
Tawam Hospital Clinical Imaging Department has at present 7 Sr. Consultants (including the Chairman of the department), 3 Consultants, 5 Specialists and 5 Residents.
The department consists of seven sections, MRI, CT, Ultrasound and Doppler, Mammography, interventional radiology, general radiology and nuclear medicine. The physicians have clinical privileges according to their educational background and skills and the divisions are staffed accordingly.
The aim of the department is to provide high quality diagnostic and interventional therapeutical procedures for all patients. The department follows international imaging standards using state-of-the-art equipment as well as taking part in local and International CME activities enabling us to keep updated.
Divisions / Sub-Specialty:
1) Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
1.5 Tesla Machine performing all standard MRI examinations in addition to oncology and breast MRI.
2) Computed Tomography (CT)
64 and 16 slice CT machines with additional CT cardiac and CT angio modules.
3) Interventional Radiology,
2 Cath labs, 1 cardiac and the other for general interventions.
4) General Radiology
5 diagnostic labs some of which are digital.
5) Nuclear Medicine
Incorporating bone densitometry and gamma cameras
6) Ultrasound and Doppler
Equipped with state-of-the-art ultrasound machines performing all ultrasound examinations with dedicated team for Doppler vascular ultrasound.
7) Mammography
Digital mammography machine with stereo tactic capabilities, core biopsy unit and vacuum assisted tumor ablation. The unit is also equipped with 3 high quality ultrasound machines.

1) Breast Care Center with mobile mammo machine for mammo screening.
2) Complete program of peripheral and neuro-interventional procedures.
3) CT cardiac and CT angio program
4) Vascular Doppler training program (Doppler society)
Scope of Services:
Tawam Hospital Clinical Imaging Department provides the full range of diagnostic Imaging services as well as therapeutic techniques using the full range of diagnostic modalities – Radiography, Fluoroscopy, Ultrasound (Including color Doppler), CT, MRI, and all kind of Angiography and Interventional Procedures.
The department provides clinical imaging services for inpatients and emergency patients on a 7days/24hours a day roster.
