Laboratory Medicine
Department Overview:
The Department of Laboratory Medicine provides a comprehensive service to Tawam Hospital and associated healthcare facilities through the Central Laboratory as well as satellite laboratories located in the Emergency Department, Jahli Clinic, Neima Clinic and Al Wagan Hospital. Both routine and specialised services are provided. Services not provided by the Central Lab are referred to reputable reference laboratories in Europe or USA. The respective sub-specialties are lead by well qualified Pathologists or Clinical Scientists, who are supported by experienced technologists. The laboratory is well equipped and there is an ongoing program to upgrade the equipment and services. The Pathologists and Clinical Scientists are readily accessible for providing expert consultation to referring physicians. The analytical aspects of laboratory testing are subject to daily internal quality control measures and independent evaluation by accredited international External Quality Assessment schemes.

Scope of Services:
Anatomical Pathology & Cytopathology section provides both routine and specialized services with a very wide range of immunochemical stains.
