On Sunday June 28th 2009, the new oncology clinic and infusion center was opened in the first floor of the radiotherapy building at Tawam hospital.

The clinic now has the capacity to provide extra clinics to adapt to the increasing demand of referrals to Tawam hospital as the oncology referral center in the UAE.

The infusion centre is designed for increased dignity and privacy while patients undergo their treatments and the facility will allow us to expand the number of patients we can offer chemotherapy to as well as maintaining in a calm and relaxed atmosphere.

We have also introduced a lab (CBC) machine with phlebotomy services to reduce the length of time patients waiting for essential blood tests to their treatment. In addition to that the patient affair services like getting the Daman approval for all patients carrying Daman card, helping in introducing the patients in to the medical assistance program if the patients the criteria, cashier services and customer services program. Moreover, the clinic has an expert oncology team (medical and nursing). 

The oncology clinic and infusion center consist from:

• 5 examination rooms
• 1 procedure room

• 28 chemotherapy chairs allocated in 4 rooms
• 4 beds allocated in 1 room
• 2 counseling room
• Lab
• Phlebotomy room
• V.S and assessment room
• Cahier office
• Registration reception
• Waiting area.

Patients seen in the clinic:

• All oncology patient
• Non benign hematology (thalessemia, sickle cell anemia…….)

Procedure for accepting patients to the clinic :

• Prior to acceptance at Tawam hospital, patient must provide referral letter from their current treating physician or medical report and fax it to the following numbers: 03-7075836 or 03-7074468
• Copy of passport and residence visa (if they are residing in the UAE
)
• Copy of daman insurance
• If patient does not have Daman insurance and UAE residence visa, he/she is considered as self paying patient.
• After sending all the documents mentioned, patient will be contacted for their outpatient appointment.

Working hours:

• Oncology clinic:
  07:30 till 16:30
• Infusion center:
  08:00 till 18:00

Location:

• 1^st floor, Radiotherapy building

The clinic provides the following services:

• Daily clinic for all oncology patients requiring radiotherapy treatment and also for follow up post treatment.
• Two morning clinics per week (Monday and Wednesday) for palliative care patients.
• Sarcoma clinic twice per month
• Thyroid clinic twice per month

 

Working Hours:

The clinic is opened 5 days per week from Sunday to Thursday (0800 to 1630)
