Tawam Hospital 3^rd Annual Walk/Run

Towaya Park, Al Ain, UAE

The Start:

The venue for the event will be the lovely Towaya Park located in Al Towaya Area of Al Ain, near Markhanyia District, close to Emirates Driving School. Staff from the Recreation Center will be on site to guide through a warm up session before the start of the event.

The Route:

The walk/run will take you from Towaya Park out to Towaya Park Roundabout for the start of the race. The route will take you on a straight line through two roundabouts and towards the UAE Private School (just over 2K). You will walk around the school and come back to the roundabout in front of the school and head back in the same direction from which you came toward the park. You will see the Finish Line as you approach the park…The route which will be screened off from local traffic for the duration of the race and secured by police to assure that all participants will have a safe walk also helping out along the route will be the members of the Al Ain Sports club.

Water Stations:

Water will be available at the park before you start your walk. There will be a water station & first aid set up at each of the roundabouts that you can access on your way there and on the way back. For any Emergency we have our Public Health Transport System on stand-by at all times at the park.

Food:

Picnic in the park…post race I am sure that you will have worked up an appetite so please help yourself to some beverages and snack made available through some of our local vendors for a small fee. Please be kind to the environment and clean up your mess before you leave and use the garbage bins provided.

Entertainment:

The schedule for entertainment is not complete yet but you can bet that there will be poetry, song and dance as we already know Tawam has a very talented staff who loves to perform. Program to follow…

Closing Ceremony:

Awards will be given out to the 1st, 2nd, 3rd place winner of the male and female event. Prizes will be given away and of course everyone will want to be there for the big prize – A return air ticket anywhere Etihad flies. You have to be there to win!!

Transportation:

Transport will be arranged from the Recreation Center and the Polyclinic starting at 3:30pm. Bus schedule will follow along with the program.

Helpful Hints:

• Wear appropriate clothing for walking in the heat
• Wear a hat and sunscreen
• Wear appropriate foot wear (comfortable walking shoes)
• Make sure you are well hydrated
• Do not overeat. Try and eat a light meal a couple of hours before the walk
• Make sure you know your level of fitness. If you have never walked 5k do not attempt to do it now. You need to build up your fitness. Walk the 1k
• Be courteous to others along the route, walk on the right allowing the faster walkers or runners pass to the left
• Put your water bottles in the bins provided
• HAVE FUN
