Honorio T. Benzon, MD, is a Professor of Anesthesiology, Senior Associate Chair for Academic Affairs, and Chief of the Division of Pain Medicine of the Department of Anesthesiology at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated from the Far Eastern University in Manila, Philippines, and took his residency in anesthesiology at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois. His research training is in neurophysiology at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. He has written original articles, review articles, editorials, and book chapters in the field of regional anesthesia and pain medicine. He co-edited the book “Essentials of pain medicine and regional anesthesia” that is now in its second edition, and the “Raj’s Practical management of pain”, 4th edition, that was published in 2008. He is an Editor of “Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, an Associate Editor of Anesthesia and Analgesia, and on the Editorial Board of Clinical Journal of Pain and Pain Practice. He won the “Golden Apple Award” from the Department of Anesthesiology and the "Deans Award for Teaching Excellence 2003" from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.
